Sehr schon in der Natur gelegen. Toller Blick.
Alfredo, thank you so much for all, for your wonderful Refuge on Monte Rosa. For your hospitality! I barely couldn't believe my eyes when I first entered through the gate. I planned to read a lot but instead I sat there and stared in awe at the magnificent view, at the smoking Stromboli on the horizon, at the ocean, the sunset, the falcons circling above. I want to be there, right now. I will return. Cheers from New York Andi
Atollo is one of the most beautiful and special places I have ever stayed at. It's hard to even describe how amazing and unique it is. The views across the sea to Panarea and Stromboli are absolutely stunning, and the surrounding landscape is incredibly lush. I stayed for five days and I wish that I could have stayed even longer. You don't even need to go anywhere, I was totally content to just spend time on the veranda watching the clouds. The cottage is very comfortable, and it felt so cozy even in the middle of a storm. There are thoughtful touches everywhere and I had everything I needed to cook. The outdoor kitchen was a pleasure to use as was the outdoor shower. I would say that this is a place for a particular kind of experience that's not for everyone. It's about a vigorous 10 minute walk/hike from the top of the road and it's quite dark at night (a headlamp helps!). Some people may feel put off by the fact that it's quite isolated, but if you like feeling in the middle of nature with only the sound of the wind and birds and bees, then this place is for you. In terms of getting around, I managed to not rent a car, it's about a 40 minute walk down into town. On a lazy night I took a cab to the top of the road and that ran me about 25 euros. With a little planning though it's an extremely rewarding experience and I highly recommend it to those who are looking for something a little more off the beaten path.
a unique and wonderful gem in the lonelyness of nature. if you dont mind walking for a bit to come home and if youre not afraid beeing in the middle of nature quite away of the next houses, then you will be very happy!
We knew that the house had the great view, but the 360 views from the terraces are truly stunning, and much more than one can expect. We enjoy being there watching Stromboli, the sea, the sky and the landscape at sunrise, in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening and at night. The small house has everything you need and everything is beautifully crafted. In order to get to the house you need to walk up a narrow path unless you have a scooter, but you will be well rewarded with the panoramic views, which are the very best. We in fact love the location, which is secluded but still not far from the town and great restaurants. Alfredo was always available via email or text for any questions and was very helpful like a concierge.
This house is so special, the view is breathtaking and the house is very well-appointed. The location is fairly remote, so be prepared for a very steep hike. You should consider renting a scooter to get to beaches and to town, but please note that the hills are very steep and narrow on the road up to the atollo. Overall a very positive experience!
beautiful place with an amazing 360 view
Private, romantic paradise on a hill! Places to relax everywhere, shower outside (and inside) and wonderful 24 hour views on the Stromboli.
The house is simple and perfect for living relaxed inside/out. We loved it and stayed for a week in the hammocks, reading and looking at the sea and the stars - going into town for shopping only (walking back up with a backpack full of bottles of wine can be hard). Would have loved to stay for several weeks more...
Alfredo was very reliable and there to meet us off the ferry and also was on time to take us back to the ferry. The accommodation was delightful, rustic quirky and everything you need for a restful holiday. Particularly loved the hammocks!! The views were absolutely incredible, so beautiful very hard to beat. The walk up the track would not suit the very elderly or very unfit and I would suggest good trainers or walking shoes.
Alfredo's cottage is truly special place to stay - to say it's charming is an understatement! In real life it's even more beautiful than the pictures - the views are breathtaking. It was a delight to stay somewhere with so much personality - Alfredo has built this little cottage high up on a peninsular of Lipari himself and you really understand why when you arrive. There is a steep 12 minute walk up a track to get there but don't let it put you off - it's totally worth it - you feel like you're miles away from everyone else when you get there. The cottage is simple but it has everything you need - plus the outdoor shower is a stroke of genius. Alfredo was a great host - he was so helpful when our Hydrofoil back to Palermo was cancelled and helped us to get back to the mainland. We hope to come back again soon - thank you Alfredo!â
What great views this place has! We spent so much of our time just relaxing in the hammocks in the shade. It's very peaceful and remote except the odd walker asking where the path is! We were planning on hiring a quad but Alfredo suggested a motorbike might be safer.. having never driven a motorbike we ended up hiring a car so we didn't have to do the long steep walk twice a day - it might have been fine but we were carrying a fair amount of food and wine each time too! Alfred was really helpful whenever we needed him - helped us arrange boat trips and came up if we had a question. A unique place to stay.
A truly beautiful house on the hills of Lipari. Breathtaking view. We have slept extremely well for one week. Not a noise to be heard. Peace and quiet all around. Everything was there as described by Alfredo. The place is ideal for people that want to live surrounded by nature and isolated but still have all amenities - comfy bed, outside kitchen, two showers, nice toilet and amazing terrace. The walk uphill (10 minutes) is highly rewarded by the view. We had an amazing time and were sad to leave this beautiful house and island. My favourite part of the house was the backyard with a stunning view over the island of Vulcano. Note: the walk uphill requires some physical fitness and the nature around means that you'll be in contact with many insects. My boyfriend and I are urban residents and not used to this but we adapted to this with no problem!
Alfredo was beyond great. He picked us up at the port and drove us to the cottage as well as gave lots of info and discounts on places in town. There is a rugged, steep 15min hike up from the road to the cottage so bring good shoes. And I recommend bug spray. The views can not be beaten and the quiet is refreshing. We loved the outdoor kitchen and shower and even how his dog would sometimes visit. If you are looking for serene bliss, this is it.
We just had a wonderful, amazing week at this beautiful slice of heaven situated in the most magnificent setting you could imagine. The views of the ocean and volcanoes are amazing. The garden is filled with beautiful wild flowers. We loved relaxing in the hammocks in the morning and evening. The outdoor shower is unforgettable. Alfredo is a terrific host - we arrived late on the boat from Naples and he had already purchased some things for us to eat as the supermarkets were closed. He was super responsive and very friendly. We really enjoyed meeting him. The place is about a 2 mile hike from the town and it can be a bit steep but we have to say that we absolutely loved doing this hike as it has such beautiful views and it is so lovely to get exercise after sitting in the hammocks... The Aeolian Islands are really worth visiting as there are so many hikes you can do on each of the islands including hiking to volcanoes. Really an amazing mix of relaxing and hiking makes the perfect holiday. We also rented a scooter to tour the island for a couple of days and that was lots of fun. All in all we feel very lucky to have been able to experience a week in this amazing place!
This place is amazing. Like all the other reviews said, the photos don't do it justice. We stayed for 5 days and loved every minute. Alfredo is a great guy. He really went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. Would love to go back someday!
I had an excellent time at Atollo, where I stayed for one week. I loved the remoteness of the place and the beautiful views and spend most of the time up on the hill, meditating, reading and photographing the amazing sky and Milky Way at night. I agree with the others that the house and location is even more beautiful than expected and everything is done with love and care. And yes, the outside shower is gorgeous. I didnât rent a scooter or car but walked into town for groceries or a trip to the other islands and then took a taxi back up to the parking place from where it takes 12 minutes walking to get to the house. Alfredo has also been a truly wonderful host. He picked me up and brought me back to the ferry and even helped me to bring up groceries on my first day. If you are pondering, go and visit this place, you will love it. Thank you again Alfredo and I hope I can soon visit your little paradise again.
Wow. Alfredo's atollo is the stuff of dreams. My husband and I spent 5 days here on vacation in August and couldn't have been happier. We knew August could be intense with tourists and while we wanted a gorgeous, peaceful place we also wanted to be close to restaurants and people. Atollo was the perfect mix. The house has, likely, the best view on the entire island. Alfredo has done an elegant job of designing the cottage too, so it is simple with exactly everything you need. A few suggestions: - leave some time to just relax in hammocks, read and enjoy the truly spectacular view, take in what a special place you are in; - it's an invigorating 8 minute hike up from Alfredo's house but for anyone with mobility issues might have a challenge; - bring some ear plugs from the airplane, there was a party boat only one night which we could hear from bed and it was a blessing to have ear plugs on me; - definitely recommend renting scooters -- we spend a few hours touring the island and it was terrific to head from Canetto up to Aquacalda; - make sure to bring water shoes for the beaches on Lipari; - we went to all the recommended restaurants but Pulera was a stand-out, one of the most special culinary experiences we've ever had (and so much more relaxed than Filipino). We will definitely be back! THANK YOU ALFREDO!
Alfredo is a great host and at the end of the phone if you have any queries. He's got a very special spot with Atollo, unlike anything else on the island. If you're looking for peace and quiet but access to Lipari town and the beach... this is for you
The house is exactly like the description. The walk up to the house is heavy (when getting groceries in Lipari town) but the lovely house and stunning views are totally worth it. It was great to live so secluded for a few days on top of the hill, with the outside shower, bath and kitchen. Be prepared for lots of musquito's!
Really great place on the top of the mountain with amazing views and pretty much no other people around (there is a track path nearby, but it's lower than the house so you don't get to see anyone, maybe occasionally hear some voices here and there). Perfect to escape from city life with just crickets, lizards and bird sounds around you. Alfredo was very helpful and accommodating, great advise and suggestions on things to do and places to visit. Definitely would like to return in future for a longer period of time. It would help if you can drive a scooter or quad car (you can rent those on the island itself) as it is quite a hike up the mountain otherwise.
Beautiful place, the photos don't do it justice. Amazing views and nice cosy house. Tough if you're walking but worth it. Alfredo was very helpful in picking us up and dropping us at the port. Would stay again.
Alfredo's house on the island of Lipari is a very special place. I stayed for four weeks by myself and was sorry to leave. First and foremost it must be said that the location is outstanding. The house literally sits alone on top of a hill that has been reserved for nature and from the yard and also inside the house (thanks to well placed windows) you can see endless sea and incredibly, Stromboli, Panarea, Vulcano and Mt. Etna. You are way up in the sky so birds like hawks fly by at full speed and you can hear their wings. While the spot has a definite feeling of solitude, it is also well connected. The wifi is unlimited, fast and reliable which is rare on the Aeolian Islands. Town is actually close by and has every convenience. There is a 5 minute hike to the road which goes up the hill, but from there you can either walk or drive to town. I recommend driving because like all of the eolian islands, there are lots of hills. Alfredo is kind and helpful. He and his family live just down the side of the hill from the rental which gives you a feeling of security. He answered my questions when ever I had them and was very respectful of privacy always scheduling before arriving with water delivery, etc. I highly recommend this home!
I can only confirm everything that has already been said in the previos comments. This nice cottage in Monte Rosa is just a perfect hide away for people who love nature and want to spend some days in a spectacular place with gorgeous views, sunrise and sunsets, tranquility, time to relax and dolce far niente, and just enjoy the beauty of this place. Alfredo was a perfect host and always at our disposal if we needed something. I can highly recommend this location and will definitely come back! Grazie mille Alfredo!
The Atollo house on Monte Rosa is probably one of the best kept secrets of Airbnb. Houses like these are what makes Airbnb fantastic. To be able to gain access to such a place like Alfredos house on the hill overlooking the active vulcano Stromboli in the distance is nothing short of breath taking. The best way to get to and from the house is to rent a scooter/motorino and drive up to the end of the road. From there you have to walk for 8-10 minutes. The house is very secluded and in the beginning of June you are basically alone with the horizon as your closest neighbour. We can highly recommend this stay!
Am fantastischsten sind Alleinlage, Ausblicke, Aubendusche, Stille...
Alfredo is a fantastic host, he is available to help with anything you need. The house is perfect for guests looking for seclusion, peace and quiet. It is an amazing location and any photos will not do it justice. The outdoor shower is an amazing suprise. You have a fantastic view of the other Aoelian Islands and I would advise that you visit Stromboli, we were lucky enough to see large magma eruptions. It is nice also to rent a car/scooter to see the whole island. The trek from the car park up is not too bad and was needed after all the good food and wine.
The climb up to the house is steep and uneven in places but once you are up the house it is incredibly isolated and the views are stunning, on one side Canneto, Panarea, and Stromboli, on the other Vulcano, Sicily, Etna and even Calabria on clear days. Alfredo is a great host and will assist with moving luggage and supplies up to the house on his quad bike. The house is very well equipped so you can remain at the house in the peaceful location or you can go into the lively town of Lipari where there are great restaurants, interesting historical sights and a huge selection of boat trips to local beaches and other islands. We had a car so we could park at the base of the track, otherwise the walk back from town is a bit of a work out. We will always remember our time on the beautiful terrace of this house cooking and eating the wonderful local produce and contemplating the view.
Vista spettacolare!
Alfredo's place is a dream. Beautifully located, high on the hill overlooking 270+ degree views of the island/ports/beaches/ocean. He has thought of everything you may need for you stay, so that it is comfortable and relaxing. He was very helpful when we asked questions and kind when picking us up after a delay. Would absolutely recommend to anyone who loves a quiet, private and peaceful holiday with incredible views.
we stayed at atollo 10days and enjoyed the beautiful house and surrounding. the boat trip with giovanni where we ate at la pina on volcano was great and the food delicious. we would definitely recommend staying at atollo!
Atollo is a small paradise The views are spectacular, the hosting is excellent. We cannot recommend Atollo highly enough!
Absolutely stunning! The most beautiful views and on a very clear day you can see Mt Etna! Thanks Al :-)
This place is a paradise.
Atollo is such a unique and exquisite location for a vacation, particularly if you like to spend time out of doors interacting with nature and your local environment. We LOVED our time here, from sunrise to moonrise each day/night. We used the outdoor kitchen extensively and really liked the hike up to and down from this house either to the parking area for a rental car, or directly into Lipari or Canneto (we did both).
Best place to stay EVER! If you are fit and dont mind a hike, this is the best place you could imagine to stay in Lipari. We spent our honeymoon here and had a very relaxing time!
Danke Alfredo!
Janine u Robert
our time was amazing at this unbelievable place. such a beautiful location. if you'll get the chance to spend some time there... do it :) thank you alfredo.... it was wonderful!!!
Alfredo has done an amazing job with his Atollo, It was everything and more of we expected, one of the best holiday we ever had, amazing view and total privacy!
This was paradise! The pictures really do not do it justice. It's gorgeous. You basically have your own mountain, with incredible views of other islands and the ocean. It is a hike to get there, so best to be prepared for a lot of walking, but it's so worth it. (Don't bring a car; we almost did but were very glad we didn't.) Alfredo was a fantastic host, who not only picked us up at the port and brought to the house but also stocked the cottage with many essentials (water, olive oil) to make us feel comfortable. He also gave us great information about the islands. We can't wait to return as soon as possible!
High in the hills above Lipari is this fantastic secluded place. We spent two very happy days here cooking, lying in hammocks and relaxing in the fantastic outside tub! The lodge is incredibly well equipped with all cooking utensils, hairdryer, wifi, outside hob, you really will not need to bring anything but a towel. The view is absolutely incredible and due to a table and sunloungers at the back of the lodge there is a variety of places to see it from. Alfredo was an excellent host and although the lodge is a steep walk from the town, he transports your luggage in his quad so you are free to admire the view! Oh and the outdoor shower is awesome! Fantastic, many thanks Alfredo
We really can only echo the very positive feedback from everybody here. The place is terrific, the views are amazing. We actually did not want to leave the house and only went down the hill for fetching food. We definitely can recommend the place. And Alfredo is a really great host who takes care of everything. We'll be back!
The house on the hill (or mountain depending on your native country) is anything if not prettier than the pictures on Airbnb. Be prepared for a steep walk (10-15 minutes depending on your gear/level of fitness) to reach it though! We had a really nice time although the weather was kind of cloudy/windy. Would definitely come again (if weather garantuees could be made in advance ;)).
Alfredo was a wonderful host. Our stay was perfect. Every need was considered and catered for. The property and location was simply stunning, exceeding our expectations.
this sweet little cottage has a truly beautiful view of the sea, lipari, and surrounding aeolian islands and it's really something to watch the moon rise over monte rosa. alfredo is extremely helpful and accommodating. keep in mind that while the cabin is comfortable, it is definitely rustic, but if you like camping and solitude, you'll love staying here. definitely remember to bring some flashlights and bug spray and don't forget to grab some paper towels and other little things that might come in handy if you were doing something like camping. oh! and be sure to give some love to sconsi, alfredo's dog. she is the best.
Alfredo was a great host, very helpful from our first communication, once we arrived in Lipari Al met us and we transferred to the lovely cottage, our bags went on the quad bike, we walked the last part, its definitely a decent hike so you need to be pretty fit. What you see in the photos is exactly it, but the views are much better in real life, stunning. Its a place to enjoy peace & quiet, & getting away from it all, with everything you need. Its a 10 minute walk down a dirt track, then down a steep concrete road for 10 minutes, then 10 minutes into Lipari town all up 30 minutes, going back up is good for your cardio vascular !! It was wonderful experience, we highly recommend, Lipari is a lovely place.
This is definitely a place to fall in love with. Quiet and peaceful, an idyllic shelter lost in the midst of Tyrrhenian Sea. There is just you and the pure nature determined by the four elements: earth, air, water and fire (great view to Stromboli). The cottage itself is well equipped so you won't lack anything. Alfredo is an excellent host, very friendly and helpful - he responded very quickly to our needs and was so kind to carry our baggage on his quad. I can advice his place without hesitation!
Alfredo was a great host from start to finish. Excellent communication prior to our trip, he even gave us advice on getting to the island as well as the best place for car rental. Once on the island Alfredo couldn't have been more hospitable. giving us advice on places to go. The house itself is truly excellent - equipped with everything you might need and with with the most amazing panoramic views. Don't be put off by the 10 minute walk up the path to get to the house - Alfredo kindly carried our luggage up on his quad bike and the walk is not particularly strenuous. The house is totally secluded and perfect for those who want to get away from it all. This is was one of our best ever Airbnb experiences and I strongly reccomend that you book this house!
A beautiful home in stunning surroundings. We had a great time in the atollo and would recommend it to anyone. The hill is a bit of a climb, but that's all part of the fun!
Alfredo's place was absolutely wonderful! 100% highly recommended for what my wife and I were hoping to do - stay on a Sicilian island for 5 days relaxing, going on small excursions, sleeping late, and enjoying the greatest views I have ever seen from a house. Alfredo himself was great, gave wonderful advice for my gluten-intolerant wife on places to eat and was incredibly accommodating with every request, on pick up and at drop off. The island was fairly difficult to reach and the cottage required quite a bit of physical fitness but we seriously loved every minute of our trip and thank Alfredo and his wonderful family immensely!
Alfredo was very friendly and helpful. He picked us up at the harbor and drove us with our luggage up to the cottage. Also he organised for us the climb up to Stromboli. The cottage is an amazing place with a spectacular view. On one side you can see Vulcano and at the other side Paranea and Stromboli with its activity at night. I warmly recommend this place to everyone who likes nature and peace.
âA beautiful house in a beautiful location!â We had a Great stay in sicily, greatly thanks to the beautiful secluded house that we very luckily found! the house is on a secluded hill with no neihbours and very few people passing by. the access is by foot or quad bike only and its a 7-10 min walk from the end of the road to the house. we really loved it and highly reccommend it to people who want to have a quiet intimate time
We have been at many houses all over the world but this one was the best! It stands completely alone with an absolutely stunning 360 degree view and has everything you need to have a great time. Jf you arrive with a wheelchair it might get difficult because you have to walk a bit to get there.Once you are there it might get difficult to leave this place again. Alfredo brings all your luggage up the hill, shows you how everything works with the cd from `IL POSTINO´ in the background.Jf you need something ,give him a call and he helps immediately. Do not expect a 5 room airconditioned house with tons of icecubes from the refrigerator ; you have 1 room , an attached bathroom and and outdoor shower which is great fun.Get some fresh fish from the harbour and prepare your own dinner with a view which no restaurant can top. Alfredo`s fotos are great but in real it is unbelievable....................
Wonderful place! We especially enjoyed the magnificent views. It's a great place to relax with good facilities. The house itself is tiny, with a lot of outside space. I definitely recommend this place to people that want to calm down and love to be outside, surrounded by nature. Insects en reptiles also love the place, so you shouldn't be to phobic. If you like walking it's no problem getting around but you can also rent a scooter. Anyway, just staying at the house is the best thing you can do, because you won't find a better place to relax! Alfredo was kind and helpful and it was nice he could take us and our luggage on coming and going.
We stayed at Alfredo's cottage end of March/beginning of April and very much enjoyed the calm of the location and the wonderful view. The cottage is well equiped and the outside shower is just great! Alfredo is a very friendly, very dedicated host. We have been welcomed very warmly and enjoyed his kindness and availability during our whole stay. Important: enjoying a calm and secluded location means that you have to walk quite a long way from the centre of Lipari to the cottage. The way is wonderful but one should plan approx. a 45 minutes walk. We rented a 125ccm scooter for some days. It's just 10 minutes walk from the road then. A 50ccm wouldn't be enough because of the steep roads. Thanks again for the wonderful stay, Alfredo, and we hope to visit you again at some point! All the very best, Anne-Claire & Arne
It's a lovely cottage, perfect for relaxing in the sun and going for walks, great trekking. Alfredo is a very helpful and friendly host. The cottage is a bit high up on the hill, the only way to get there is walking, but all very manageable. Alfredo was very kind as to bring the suitcase on his quad. Sea views from the cottage are breathtaking. Highly recommended as a hideaway place! Bring your backpack.
A very special and amazing place with stunning views. We really loved it and hope to come back one day. I totally agree with all other guests. If you read the description and the comments, you'll get a very good idea of how it's like.
you can´t really describe this wonderful place ... the evenings: relaxing in the hammock on the terrace in front of the house, watching the eruptions of Stromboli. if you are "bored" by this sight ... or a little freezy take an outdoor shower at the back of the house (warm water!) overlooking the island of Vulcano. then cooking at the outdoor kitchen, your pasta will be great! During the day take a sunbath, watching the ships pass by and the falcons wheel above the house or walk down the hill to the beach of Canetto (steep path, mind your feet! ). If you stay at this house you don´t need more for the perfect holiday!
We spent 9 days at Atollo and fell in love with that cute little cottage on the hill at Lipari. In reality it is even more beautiful than in the pictures. Alfredo restored the house with care and he made sure that we had everything we needed. He was very quick in answering questions and he was helpful all the time. Since this year there is an extendible windbreak at the front terrace, which makes it much more easier to cook when it´s windy. We loved the outdoor shower and both terraces with that spectacular view, where we almost spent the whole time, relaxing, reading books and use the calmness to regenerate from a busy year. Highly recommended.
We spent 10 days in the cottage in June. The location is absolutely magnificant und the cottage has everything you need for a simple but comfortable life. We went down to Lipari town a couple of times during our stay to buy groceries, and practically spent all the rest of the time on the terrace - best place to be on the island. The little outside kitchen and the outside shower are really cool. What to bring: mosquito repellent. What not to bring: Work - the internet connection is slow and unstable. Mobile connection for phone calls OK.
This magical casetta in the Aeolian Islands is the perfect spot for balancing the need for complete privacy with the occasional and convenient reentry to urban life. One could go for days without seeing others if one so desires - or one could just as easily dash down the mountain for caffè al bar each morning. The location is ideal: nestled against a hillside with panoramic views towards Canneto, Porticello, Vulcano, Panarea, Stromboli and Sicily itself. It's remarkably quiet up on the hill, even though Canneto seems to be within spitting distance. From the house itself one needs around 45 minutes to walk to the town of Lipari, which has (super)markets, bars, restaurants, pasticcerie, etc. The first part of the walk is a dirt path (bring a pair of old shoes!). We didn't feel the need to rent a vespa or quad, but doing so would make the town even more accessible. One could also easily explore the other Aeolian Islands from here, although we were happy just to gaze out at them. All the amenities were well kept and well finished. Alfredo himself was a jovial, reliable and tremendously helpful host (to the point of offering us a lift back up the hill after we had shopped for fresh fish and vegetables!). He is constantly improving and adding things to make it as comfortable as possible. We will undoubtedly return to this special and unique place and highly recommend it!
Alfredo is an amazing host- he made the most romantic house on earth, with windows - illuminators, antique furniture, covered in flowers in the most beautiful spot on earth. Yet it's very comfortable and has everything you would need in 10 days of vacation. I have traveled a lot around Italy and this has been the most amazing experience I ever had. The house' only issue and still advantage is that it is situated high on the mountain and it takes time to get there on foot from the city. You have to walk for 15 minutes up the path, yet our 4 year made it easily up and down as there are small lizards and all kinds of flowers on the way so she was all the time excited. I would recommend to take a car also to go around the island, as there are magic hidden places there, like roman termas or places for picnic with mind-blowing views, when you suddenly find yourself in the fog from the cloud passing by.
My boyfriend and I spent the first week of June in Alfredo's house. An unforgettable and almost magical experience. We loved the seclusion of the house, the immensity of the views from both sides of the house and the light, so much light. It was an incredibly peaceful and calming experience punctuated by exciting little adventures... the stinky mud bath in Vulcano, the mindblowing eruptions of Stromboli, the pure beauty of Panarea... We also loved just spending entire days not leaving the house and its surroundings...reading in the sun, watching the birds hunting for lezards and looking at the view, which constantly changes depending on the weather, the wind, the boats. The house is very simple but we had everything we needed and Alfredo was helpful at all time. Last but not least... The outdoor shower is such a treat! :) Thank you Alfredo for this wonderful experience. Pauline & Floris
Amazing and beautiful place, located lonely on a hill and overlooking the see on two sides. From the terrace you can watch Stromboli's activities if the sight is clear. Alfredo is a great guy who makes your stay as smooth as possible. He brought our luggage up the 700m dirt track with his quad. The place is for nature lovers who are not afraid of lizards, insects and dogs passing by. They will be rewarded with a truly unique experience on of the most beautiful islands in the world!
Lipari is a beautiful island and this spot high on the hill is a special place within it. Alfredo was a great host. He picked me up, told me all I needed to know about the place and then left me to enjoy the it until it was time to go home. Be sure to bring a head torch and spare batteries for the getting back up to the home at night. I did a trip to Stromboli and the walk to the summit while I was there, which i'd highly recommend.
Preciosa casa y preciosas vistas! Recomendado 100 %
We enjoyed our stay on the hill very much - the silence, the views, the stars. Everything was as described before. If you hire a scooter you can reach Lipari Town and Canneto easily. OK there is this dirt track ... but thanks to Alfredo who took our luggage by quad.
This place is paradise! We fell in love with the pictures that Al made of his self-built bungalow. In real life the place looks still better: you have 360 degrees of astounding scenery and the bungalow is beautifully decorated. It is THE place to relax. If you need peace and quiet, this is the best place to be. We LOVED the views, the hammocks, and the outside shower. The only minor drawback of Al's place is the distance: from Amsterdam it takes a whole day to get there, and from Lipary town it is a 40 minutes' walk (with bags full of fruits and goodies) up the mountain. But you get a free workout and is fully worthwile!!! we will definitely be back! Milou and Jola
We stayed for 8 days in the cottage on top of Monte Rosa and it was really great. The views are much better in real life than in pictures. It´s a cool feeling to be all alone on top of the mountain overlooking Stromboli, Vulcano and even Etna. Just you and the nature. The walk up to the house is a real workout and I recommend you to walk up some steep hills to get the feeling if you are staying more than a couple of days.
we stayed here on our honeymoon and it really was the perfect place. its a really special little house and the location is stunning, the best on the island....alfredo is a wonderful host, giving you privacy but also willing to help out with any holiday queries. we'll remember it always and are already planning a return trip!
beautiful location, everything was as promised.
We stayed on Monterosa a couple of weeks late July 2011. The house is simply wonderful, comfortable, nesty, warm and fresh, sunny-shady, a good looking "monolocale" completely isolated on top of the Monte Rosa. Outstanding views on Stromboli, Vulcano, and the Etna (far at East, spotted a couple of clear/explosive nights). Designed flowery garden (in late july!), incredible cactus flowers in the morning, real nature all round, the catch is the walk up : 650 meters of steepy, rocky-ish, beaten track, 12 - 15 minutes to the top⦠Good training to climb on Stromboli later. We were welcome by Alfredo right at the port of Lipari, he very kindly took our luggage to the house while we got the scooters (needed to get halfway up the hill). His help was always available when needed, down to taking our luggage to the port when leaving Lipari. The house itself, mostly in local materials is neatly done. A magical dominating terrasse, a large main room, separated bathroom with shower, external shower behind, and the external kitchen. Cooking on the terrasse became difficult when it got windy, and it does, because the gas fires are not well isolated. Also, the light for cooking is much too low⦠The wind problem could probably be arranged by a kind of mobile, light-wood screen for windy days. And adding a cooking light should be possible ;-) Actually, I hope it will be, since we're going back this year⦠The kitchen equipment is all there, down to the unexpected iron and table ! A couple of kitchen ustensils were missing , but the owner quickly got them. I guess the longer you stay, the more kitchen stuff you need. The only other little problem happened after over a week, when the water ended. That was fixed the same day, and I think it has been updated since. We checked in the agency while in Lipari, their help with the house was fast, and we got some good advice. We should be rating 10, but the cooking problem on the house calls for a 9. Thanks to all at Vulcano, and thank you Alfredo for keeping this place as you do !
From the moment I saw the cottage listed on AirBnB I knew that it was the place for us. We spent three weeks in Sicily staying in three different rental houses, visiting the island and getting to know it's people, places and food. It was a busy and magical time. Being able to spend a week on Lipari at this cottage was the perfect end to our stay in Sicily. Truly a meditation place, it was perfect. Of all the places we stayed on this visit, it was only this house that we were sad to leave. I would like to come back and stay for a month. Of course, as others say, you must be willing to hike the 650 meters up the steep path, but it's worth it for the silence and solitude. Thank you Alfredo for creating such a magical place!
Grazie e a presto Buon lavoro Esther & Vincenzo
Alfredo's cottage is beautiful and comfortable. Alfredo was nice and helpful and accommodating to my needs. We did not have a lot of interaction as the cottage is a little isolated but great for alone time and meditation. I enjoyed my stay.
Great Place! Perfect if you look for loneliness. Alfredo is a very nice host who cares for his guests.
Schitterende ligging.
An ideal place for anyone who wants to be far from tourists and.. well civilization. You can only reach the little house through a very steep path so aside from the very rare brave wanderer looking for the way to get to the church on the next hill, not a soul in sight. The house is very basic, but well equiped and it has pretty much anything you could need. There is a wonderful breeze through it (and outside) which is highly appreciated with the heat. The views are wonderful (on other islands, on the sea, and on one of the towns' beaches). As a couple trying to get away and really rest, it was the Perfect place. We regreted every time we left it (aside from a wonderful tour of the island). Enjoy!
Fabulous time! Highly recommended! Amazing views.
